The occurrence of damage to the cars can be an extremely stressful event, so in the text below we have tried to describe in detail the procedure for dealing with damage so that you do not miss any important steps.

Rulebook on handling damage

Damage to the vehicle that is the subject of rental, which was directly caused by you as our client-renter, as well as the damage by an unknown person or a third party (in a traffic accident) should be primarily reported to the company AKS Fleet Solution doo Belgrade via the following phone numbers.
Also, it is mandatory to report the damage to the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, the Traffic Police according to the location of the specific damage to the vehicle. The said competent authority shall draw up a record of the damage in question and the persons involved.
At the time of the damage, the first important information for us as a lessor is: whether the damage occurred in the parking lot (unknown cause, found in a seen/damaged condition) or by the participation of the vehicle in a car accident with another vehicle(s):

1. If the vehicle was involved in a traffic accident...

- whether anyone was injured (in that case, in addition to the traffic police, you must also call the Emergency Service, and this is usually done by the Police automatically);

 

- whether the damage is of greater or lesser value (approximately): if the vehicle is immobile, seriously damaged, the damage is naturally of greater value, whether there are only minor scratches, dents, etc. in which case the damage is of lesser value.

 

Damages of greater value exceed RSD 200,000.00; in practice, the insurance company requires the involvement of the Traffic Police for all damages greater than RSD 50,000.00.
Reason: establishing the actual facts, data and the condition of the participants, alcohol testing of the participant-driver (drivers must have zero alcohol in their blood in order to collect damages under the all-risk insurance policy).

 

When you have a dilemma, feel free to contact us first, and with our recommendation, call the Traffic Police.

 

- whether it is known who is responsible for the damage (who accepts the responsibility for the damage from all the participants in the accident):

 

The communication with other participant(s) in the loss event should be motivated by finding out who accepts the blame for the damage.

 

The responses to the above-mentioned questions represent the basis for further procedure:

 

If the vehicle was involved in a traffic accident, there are injured persons and damage of greater value, it is compulsory to report the damage to the lessor AKS Fleet Solution doo and personally wait for the Police who will give you further instructions at the location of the accident.

 

It is necessary to have the following at your disposal: a valid driver's license and registration certificate, compulsory insurance policy, ID card. The police at the location of the accident shall decide whether to conduct an official investigation or not based on all the relevant facts and the participants in a particular case.

 

If the damage is relatively small, no one is injured, one participant accepts the responsibility for the damage, you wait for the police, get further instructions, and in practice in most cases, it happens that only the European Accident

 

Report is filled in at the location of the accident, after previously moving the vehicles, if they are mobile, so as not to interfere with the regular traffic.

 

The instructions for filling in the form of the said report may be found on the back of the form, and you received the report form when you picked up the vehicle with the accompanying documentation for the rented vehicle.

 

After the investigation of the Police (in case of major damage, when it is not known who is to blame for the damage and/or when there are injured persons), it is necessary to wait for the Traffic Police Record, which takes on average 7 to 10 days.

 2. If the vehicle was found in the parking lot and did not participate...

If the vehicle was found in the parking lot and did not participate in the accident when the cause of the damage is not known: it is necessary to report the damage to the competent Ministry of Interior at the location of the accident, and also to AKS Fleet Solution doo as a formal lessor, and we will give you further instructions orally.

3. If the vehicle is stolen: the procedure is...

If the vehicle is stolen: the procedure is the same as in the previous paragraph, plus we undertake the obligation to report the damage to the Ministry of Interior at the location of the loss event after we obtain from you all the relevant information necessary to report the loss: parking location, a time when the theft was established, all other important information for the competent authorities.

 

We, as the lessor, shall report the damage by activating the all-risk insurance policy if the driver of the rented vehicle is responsible for the damage and/or the vehicle was found damaged in the parking lot, or when the cause of the damage is unknown.

4. If the vehicle that is the subject of rental is damaged...

If the vehicle that is the subject of rental is damaged by a third party, a participant in a traffic accident, and the fault of a third party is confirmed by the Police Record, the damage report is formally filed at the insurance company of the party responsible for the damage, and the damage is collected from the compulsory car insurance policy/automobile liability insurance policy of the party responsible for the damage (without activating the all-risk policy of the lessee-vehicle user).

5. All of the above refers to reporting the damage...

All of the above refers to reporting the damage when the vehicle is in a driving condition, and when the vehicle is not in a driving condition, the larger part of the procedure is identical, the only difference is that in the case of an immobile vehicle, the vehicle must be taken to the service shop immediately, and upon receipt of the Traffic Police report and the record of damage from the insurance company, the repair of the damaged vehicle may commence at the selected authorized service shop.

6. In any of the above situations caused by a third party...

In any of the above situations caused by a third party who does not want to cooperate: leaves the scene of the accident, does not accept guilt, no agreement is possible concerning the circumstances of the damage, etc., it is necessary to have at least the registration number of the third party’s vehicle (it is best to photograph the registration plate, preferably a registration sticker, and it is the best to have the number of the third party’s car liability insurance policy and, if necessary, the contacts of the participants in the accident, witnesses, etc.).

 

All of the above will significantly facilitate the possibility of reporting and liquidating specific damage, and thus reduce the potential costs of vehicle damage to a minimum for you as a lessee.

 

All further actions after reporting the damage are completed by AKS Fleet Solution doo: communication with the insurance companies, service technicians and others, and your only obligation as a lessee is to report the damage to us and, if necessary, to the Traffic Police, as well as to make the vehicle available for collection for repair at the service shop, once the conditions are met for such actions: Police Record, Insurance Record, spare parts subject to replacement. We will do our best to do everything we can in the shortest possible time in the event of a loss event, without unnecessarily engaging you as our client.
